Michał Kawecki is a Polish, London based composer, pianist and teacher.

As a Composer the most important element of his artistic practice is 
the balance between two extremes: experiment and connections with tradition. He is also involved in electronic  music and contemporary vocal composition. For the last couple
of years he has been strongly interested in the musical reflection of extreme emotional states and mental diseases. 

He has collaborated with various ensembles performers and organisations, such as: EXAUDI, Alice Purton (Plus-Minus Ensemble), students at the London Contemporary Dance School, students and professors at the Academy of Music
in Łódź and "Młodzi nie.poważni" Symphony Orchestra.

Michał Kawecki's works have been premiered among others
at the Lviv National Symphony Orchestra, the Polish Academies of Music in Łódź, Poznań and Bydgoszcz, The Place Theatre and Milton Court Concert Hall in London.

He also cooperated with graduates
of Film School in Łódź which resulted in two animations that were premiered at the festivals around the world.

He also collaborated with graduates of the Film School in Lodz, resulting in two animations that premiered at over 60 festivals around the world. He is a laureate of several international and national composition competitions, prestigious awards and scholarships. 

Michał completed MA in Opera Making & Writing (2021) and MMus in Composition (2020), both with distinction, at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. He is a graduate of the Academy of Music in Lodz, where he obtained two Bachelor’s degrees – in Composition (2018) and Theory of Music (2019). He has also completed MMus in Composition (2021) at the Academy of Music in Lodz with an honorary title 'Primus in Artibus', awarded to the best graduate.
 

Michał is currently a PhD researcher at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama investigating the creative responses to the subject of mental health and lived experience in contemporary vocal composition, under the supervision of Julian Philips, Stephen Plaice and Toby Young.

MICHAŁ KAWECKI COMPOSER 

Michał Kawecki is a multi-award-winning Polish, London-based composer, pianist, teacher and researcher involved in vocal composition, electronic music, music for dance and socially engaged practice. 

As a composer, Michał focuses on the intersection of lived experience and documentary music composition, seeking innovative ways to translate personal narratives into compelling musical expressions. A central theme in his practice is creatively amplifying the voices of underrepresented backgrounds.

He has collaborated with various ensembles, performers and organisations, such as EXAUDI Vocal Ensemble, Alice Purton (Plus-Minus Ensemble), Guildhall Session Orchestra, MIND Foundation, Polish Film Institute, "Spoldzielnia Muzyczna" Contemporary Ensemble, "Mlodzi nie.powazni" Symphony Orchestra, students at the London Contemporary Dance School, students and professors of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and the Academy of Music in Lodz and students of the Film School in Lodz.

Michał Kawecki's works have been premiered, among others at: The Place Theatre, Middlesex University London, Milton Court Concert Hall and Milton Court Studio Theatre (Barbican Centre), IKLECTIK, St Marylebone Festival, Dance Umbrella Festival and Illuminated River Festival in London; The Lviv National Philharmonic (Ukraine), World Saxophone Congress in Zagreb (Croatia), Moving Body Festival (Bulgaria), ATOM Choreographic Series in Sofia (Bulgaria), National Palace of Culture in Sofia, Audio Art Festival in Krakow (Poland); Polish Academies of Music in Krakow, Lodz, Poznan and Bydgoszcz.
